6.1-Setup SMTP Accounts

Setup SMTP Account

No matter if you have configured SMTP in single server environment, multiple server environments, or using the services of some SMTP provider, MUMARA offers a flexible application interface to connect with the SMTP. Before you create a new account to connect with the SMTP, make it sure that SMTP has properly been configured.

Reach “Setup SMTP Account” in the left side navigational menu under “SMTP Account” to create a new account to connect with the already configured SMTP. See the following figure.

Figure#6.1.1: Setup SMTP Account

Create SMTP Account

Following Table Consists of:

  • Text Fields
  • Text Boxes
  • Dropdown Selection

Mandatory Fields are marked with Asterisks

Table#6.1.1:Providing Details of the SMTP Account

The field is mandatory and needs to be filled with a unique name for this particular SMTP account. Although this name isn’t included in the information required connecting to the SMTP, but it is required to identify the account among the other available SMTP accounts, in the application

SMTP Group Name

MUMARA not only allows a user to setup more than accounts to connect to multiple MTPs, but it also offers the ability to create SMTP groups for the effective management and sorting of the SMTP accounts. You can manage to perform two different actions with this field.

a)      Add this SMTP to an already existing SMTP group, suggestion for the already existing group will open up in a dropdown menu, after clicking in the field. If no SMTP group has been created yet, the dropdown for the suggestions will remain empty.

b)       While setting up new SMTP account, create a new group just by putting the name of the group in the field. A group will automatically be created, and this very account will automatically be added into the newly created group.

This will automatically create a new group and will add this SMTP account into the group. Creating groups and adding SMTP account into it can be a good approach to manage and sort the SMTP accounts.

The field requires verified information and is essential for the SMTP account to work properly. Knowing the SMTP host and in some cases Internet Protocol (IP) address of your SMTP server is important, in order to appropriately setup the account. In case of external SMTP service provider, you might have readily been provided with SMTP hostname.

To proceed enter the name of the SMTP host of your server, or IP address of your server to continue. You might have been provided with more than one IP addresses. In the case of IP pool, this can be any IP from the range to identify the SMTP host.

SMTP Username

The username of the SMTP you want to add into this account. Make sure that you have provided a valid and correct username. The field isn’t mandatory as in some of the cases SMTP isn’t protected by a username or password.

You just need to provide SMTP host, group and port to work this account properly. However having an SMTP without username and password protection makes it vulnerable for misuse. Therefore It is recommended to protect the SMTP with username and password.

SMTP Password

The password associated with the SMTP username which has been mentioned in the field above.

Port25 is largely known as default SMTP port, but some ISPs has this default behavior to block port25. Therefore, MUMARA has made this field mandatory to fill with an appropriate port. It can be a port 25 or an alternative opening ports like 2525, 2526 (SSL) and 587.

IP Pool For MTA

As mentioned above, you might be having more than one IP addresses or range of IP addresses for the purpose of sending emails, the box allows providing all of the sending IPs to check for the reputation and blacklist status.

The integrated reputation monitor of MUMARA helps keeping your IP checked against the famous blacklists and ensures improved sending. Each IP should be separated by a line, only one IP per one line is allowed.

Sender Information Batch

From “IP pool for MTA” onwards, you will be asked to fill the fields with the information about the sender. The topic has already been elaborated while discussing the 4th step of “Schedule an email Campaign” page. MUMARA offers to setup sender information on three different levels.

  1. While creating subscriber list.
  2. Custom sender information while scheduling the campaign and
  3. While setting up SMTP account.

The fields to setup the sender information with the SMTP account are the following.
