Admin Broadcasts

This article discusses the functionality offered to the application admin for communicating their clients. Admin can use Email or SMS to send these broadcasts to their clients. This is pretty simple to use either way of broadcasting, let’s see how to do it.

By Email

Admin can use email channel to broadcast messages to his clients. This link on the navigation would help him create content for the broadcast emails.

Admin Main Navigation -> Clients -> Send a Broadcast -> By Email

Select Client Accounts

There are two options for the admin to select. Specific broadcast can either be set for all the client accounts or it can also be setup for specific amount of client account that would meet the present criteria.

All Clients

If you want to select this option between the available two, you can additionally pick only the specific client accounts you want to send the broadcast email. “Clients” is a suggestion box with checkboxes along with every client account available in the list. You can tick the checkbox to pick specific client account for this broadcast, or can uncheck the checkbox to exclude specific account from the list.


When selected, additional option box will help you present criteria for the client account to qualify for receiving the broadcast email.  Following are the criteria options.

  • Groups- From the available groups select one or more, i.e. select “Active” as a group to for example notify client accounts upon activation. As a result, client accounts that belong to that specific group will only receive the broadcast email.
  • Package- Select this option and then select the specific packages from the list to send the broadcast only to the subscribers of selected package
  • Client Status- Filter client account by their status value within the application, i.e. an email broadcast for the “Deactivated” accounts only encouraging them to activate their accounts.
  • Countries- Filter out client accounts by their country, you may need to use these filter when an important policy matter regarding SMS in specific region/country has been announced by the authorities.
  • Language- Filter client accounts by the language they have selected while signing up for an account.


Provide a subject line for the email broadcast in this field. You can write a straight subject line such as “Activate your Account” or can also add field variables within the subject line i.e. %%Name%% Activate your Account.

Email Content

Use the editor to create content of email broadcast, write content, add images and setup your broadcast. You can also add dynamic value by exploring “Additional Field Variables”, i.e. using %%first_name%% to personalize the email content for every recipient.

Click “Broadcast” to schedule the broadcast for the next interval of cron.


Admin Main Navigation -> Clients -> Send a Broadcasts -> By SMS

Most of the options such as select Client Accounts or defining Criteria for the clients to receive the broadcast will remain the same as discussed above for the email broadcast. With the SMS broadcast, the new options that you will see are discussed in the following area.


Select a Sender-ID suitable for the admin broadcast. A sender-ID that belongs to your company will help the client accounts quickly identify that the SMS has been sent by their service provider and it would contain important information.

Broadcast Message

Type a message of the broadcast in the text box. As you type the content, you will notice that Estimated Counter will count the words in your message. This will help you control the message length, one SMS consists of 160 letters, exceeding from it will concatenate the message on recipient end. Like the email, here with SMS you can also add the additional field variables to add personalization and dynamic value within your content.  If you are adding dynamic variables within the content, make sure that the message size will depend on the actual value and not the letters of variable, e.g. %%name%% doesn’t count, its actual value counts like John Stephen will make 13 letters.

Click “Broadcast” to schedule the broadcast for the next interval of cron.
