Campaigns Overview
The Campaigns menu is where you create the marketing email you send to your contact lists: newsletters, announcements, promotions, welcome sequences and recurring updates. Everything here is marketing email, counted against your plan's Newsletter allowance. Email your own application sends goes through a Bridge instead; see Transactional overview.
The Campaigns menu
| Menu item | What it's for | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Broadcasts | The emails themselves: subject line, pre-header, HTML and text content, attachments. A broadcast is reusable, so you can send it as many times as you like. | Broadcasts |
| Evergreen Campaigns | Sends a broadcast again and again on a schedule you set, such as every Monday or on the first of the month. | Evergreen Campaigns |
| Drip Campaigns | Sequences of emails sent one after another, such as a welcome series. A trigger starts the sequence for each contact. | Drip Campaigns |
| Split Tests | Compares two or more broadcasts on part of your audience and can send the winner to the rest. | Split Tests |
| Spintax | Word lists that rotate in your content, written as {{tag}}, so recipients don't all get identical wording. | Spintax |
| Dynamic Content Tags | Blocks that change with the recipient, the date or the campaign, written as [[tag]]. | Dynamic Content Tags |
| Scheduled Campaigns | Every campaign you've scheduled, with its status and progress. Pause, resume or reschedule campaigns here. | Scheduling Campaigns |
You schedule a campaign under Actions → Schedule, not under Campaigns. The Scheduled Campaigns page is where you follow it afterwards.

1. Create a broadcast
A broadcast is the content of the email. Go to Campaigns → Broadcasts, click Add New and choose how to build it:
- HTML Editor: a rich-text editor with a code view, for writing or pasting HTML.
- Drag & Drop Builder: a visual builder with blocks and ready-made sections. See Drag & Drop Email Builder.
- AI Email Builder: describe the email and Mumara AI writes and designs it. See Using the AI Builder.
Start from a template or a blank page, add the subject line and content, and send yourself a test from the Preview & Test tab. See Broadcasts.
2. Schedule it
Go to Actions → Schedule. The form walks you through four steps:
- Campaign Type: a name for the campaign, the type (Regular, Split Test or Evergreen) and the recipients: one or more contact lists, or segments.
- Broadcasts: the broadcast to send.
- Sending Nodes: the pool the campaign sends through. In Mumara ONE the entries in this step are your pools. See Dedicated Pools.
- Settings: send now or later, open and click tracking, the unsubscribe link, the List-Unsubscribe header and the sender details.
The sender email must be on an Active sending domain. If Google Analytics link tagging is set up for your account, the form also has a Google Analytics (UTM) panel for this campaign's links. See Scheduling Campaigns and Google Analytics.
3. Send and track
When the campaign starts, Mumara ONE prepares the recipient list, skips suppressed and duplicate addresses, personalizes each message and sends it through your pool. Opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes and complaints are recorded as they happen.
Mumara ONE handles bounce processing, feedback loops and the return path for you, so there's no bounce address to configure anywhere in a campaign.
Before your first campaign
- An Active sending domain. Until a domain is Active, it isn't offered as a sender address. See Sending Domains.
- A contact list with contacts, and sender details on the list that use your verified domain. See Contact Lists.
- A pool to send through. On plans with dedicated IPs, set aside a pool for marketing email. See Dedicated Pools.
For a quick walk-through of all of this, see Send Your First Campaign.
Personalizing content
Every editor has an Insert Variable button that lists the tags you can use. The tag types can be combined in the same email:
| Tag | Example | What it inserts |
|---|---|---|
| Recipient field | %%first_name%% | A value from the contact, including your custom fields |
| System variable | %%unsubscribelink%% | Details of the message or campaign, such as the unsubscribe or web version link |
| Spintax | {{greeting}} | One value picked at random from a list you wrote. See Spintax. |
| Dynamic content | [[vip-offer]] | A block chosen by rules you set. See Dynamic Content Tags. |
| Inline condition | [if:first_name]Hi %%first_name%%[else]Hi there[endif] | Text that depends on a field, without creating a tag |
When the email is sent, dynamic content is expanded first, then spintax, then recipient fields and system variables.
Automated email
Not every email needs to be scheduled by hand:
- Drip Campaigns send a sequence of emails to each contact, spaced out over time. A trigger with the Start a drip group action starts the sequence.
- Evergreen Campaigns repeat a broadcast on a schedule.
- Triggers react to one event, such as a contact joining a list, with one action, such as sending a broadcast or starting a drip group.
- Automations build journeys with several steps, waits and branches.
See Actions Overview for when to use which.
Following the results
- Campaigns → Scheduled Campaigns shows each campaign's status and progress while it sends.
- Statistics → Broadcast Stats shows opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes and complaints for each campaign. Evergreen and trigger emails have their own pages under Statistics. See Broadcast Stats.
- Analytics → Delivery Logs shows what happened to each message. See Delivery Logs.
Plan limits
Your plan sets how much marketing email you can send and how quickly, and may limit features such as evergreen campaigns and segments. The Dashboard and Plan & Usage show what you've used. For what each plan includes, see Mumara ONE pricing.
Good practice
- Send yourself a test first. Check the email on desktop and mobile, and click every link.
- Keep the unsubscribe link and the List-Unsubscribe header on. Mailbox providers expect both on bulk email, and the law requires a working opt-out. See Compliance.
- Say who you are. Use a recognizable sender name and include your postal address in the footer. The Profile variables insert details from your own account profile.
- Send to people who want your email. Segment your lists and send relevant content; watch your bounce and complaint rates. See Sending Reputation.
Next steps
- Broadcasts: create the email
- Drag & Drop Email Builder: design it visually
- Scheduling Campaigns: send it
- Split Tests: find out which version works best
- Evergreen Campaigns and Drip Campaigns: send on autopilot
