Builder AI Chat

The Builder AI Chat brings conversational AI directly into the Drag & Drop email builder. Instead of switching to a separate interface, you can chat with Mumara AI while working in the visual builder — generating content blocks, refining designs, and getting suggestions without leaving your editing workflow.

Overview

Builder AI Chat is a side-panel chat integrated into the Drag & Drop (D&D) email builder. While the standalone AI Email Builder creates entire emails from scratch through conversation, the Builder AI Chat works alongside the visual editor to help you enhance and modify the email you are actively building.

Accessing Builder AI Chat

  1. Navigate to Campaigns --> Broadcasts
  2. Open a broadcast that uses the Drag & Drop Builder
  3. Click the AI Chat button in the builder toolbar
  4. The AI Chat panel opens on the right side of the builder

Builder AI Chat must be enabled by your administrator. If the AI Chat button does not appear, contact your administrator to verify that the Mumara AI feature and Builder AI Chat permission are enabled.


The Chat Interface

Chat Panel

The chat panel slides in from the right side of the builder. It includes:

Quick Actions

Quick action buttons provide one-click prompts for common tasks:

  • Generate content — Ask the AI to create new email sections
  • Improve design — Get suggestions for visual improvements
  • Fix layout — Help with layout and spacing issues
  • Add section — Generate a specific content block to insert

How It Works

Canvas-Aware AI

The Builder AI Chat is aware of your current email content. When you send a message, the AI receives:

  1. The current HTML of your email canvas
  2. The CSS styles applied through the Style Manager
  3. Your message and conversation history

This context awareness means the AI can make intelligent suggestions based on what you have already built.

Content Insertion

When the AI generates HTML content:

  • On a blank canvas: The AI can generate a complete email structure
  • On an existing canvas: New content blocks are inserted into the canvas without destroying existing components
  • The AI identifies the appropriate insertion point (e.g., before the footer or unsubscribe section)

New content is added without replacing your existing design. The builder preserves all existing components and styles when inserting AI-generated blocks.


Image Upload

You can attach images to your chat messages to provide visual context to the AI:

  1. Click the image upload button in the message input area
  2. Select an image file or drag and drop it into the upload zone
  3. A thumbnail preview appears before sending
  4. Send your message with the attached image

Use cases:

  • Share a design mockup for the AI to replicate
  • Show a screenshot of a layout you want to match
  • Provide brand assets for the AI to reference

Conversation Management

Browsing History

  1. Click the History button in the chat panel header
  2. Previous conversations are listed with titles and timestamps
  3. Click any conversation to resume it

Starting a New Conversation

Click New Chat to start a fresh conversation. Previous conversations are preserved in history.

Deleting Conversations

To remove a conversation from your history:

  1. Open the History panel
  2. Click the delete icon next to the conversation you want to remove
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted

Deleting a conversation permanently removes all messages in that conversation. This action cannot be undone.

Clearing Conversation History

To remove all Builder AI Chat conversations at once:

  1. Open the History panel
  2. Click the Clear All button
  3. Confirm the action when prompted

This removes all past conversations but does not affect conversations in the standalone AI Email Builder.


Credit Usage

Builder AI Chat uses the same credit system as the AI Email Builder. Each message deducts credits based on:

  • The AI tier selected
  • The length of your prompt
  • The length of the AI response
  • The conversation context length (including canvas HTML)

Because Builder AI Chat sends your current canvas HTML as context, messages may cost slightly more credits than equivalent messages in the standalone AI Builder — especially for complex, multi-section emails.

Tips and Best Practices

Getting the Best Results

  • Be specific about placement — Tell the AI where you want new content: "Add a testimonial section above the footer"
  • Reference existing sections — "Change the hero banner colors to match the blue from our header"
  • Use Quick Actions for common tasks to save time on typing
  • Attach reference images when you have a specific design in mind

Saving Credits

  • Use the Fast tier for quick text changes and simple requests
  • Use the Balanced tier for content block generation
  • Reserve the Advanced tier for complex multi-section generation
  • Start fresh conversations when switching to a completely different task

Troubleshooting

AI Chat Button Not Visible

Cause: AI features not enabled or Builder AI Chat permission not granted.

Solution:

  • Verify that Mumara AI is enabled in Settings --> AI Settings
  • Check that the user role includes the Builder AI Chat permission
  • Ensure the broadcast is using the Drag & Drop Builder (not HTML Editor)

Generated Content Not Appearing on Canvas

Cause: The AI response may not have included insertable HTML, or the canvas state prevented insertion.

Solution:

  • Ask the AI specifically to "generate HTML" for the section you want
  • Try clicking the insert button on the AI response if available
  • Save your work, refresh the builder, and try again

High Credit Usage

Cause: Complex canvases include more HTML context with each message.

Solution:

  • Start new conversations when the current one becomes long
  • Use the Fast tier for simple requests
  • Remove unnecessary content blocks from the canvas before asking the AI to analyze the full design
