AI Credits
AI credits are the currency used for all Mumara AI features. Each time you send a message in the AI Builder, credits are deducted from your balance based on the tier you use and the complexity of the request.
Every Mumara license and product edition includes a number of free AI credits to get you started. The amount varies depending on your license type and product edition. Additional credits can be purchased at any time from the Mumara Billing Panel.
Credit Value
$1.00 USD = 1,000 Mumara AI Credits
This means each credit is worth $0.001 USD. For example, generating a full HTML email with the Balanced tier (10-20 credits) costs roughly $0.01-$0.02 at base rate before any administrator markup.
What Affects Credit Usage
Credit costs are not fixed per request — they vary based on several factors:

Typical Credit Costs
The following table provides approximate credit ranges for common tasks. Actual costs depend on the specific content of your prompt and the AI's response.

These are approximate ranges. Your administrator may apply a credit markup (see User Credit Markup below), which increases the credits charged to your account above the base cost.
Checking Your Credit Balance
In the AI Builder
Your current credit balance is displayed in the AI Credits badge in the top-right corner of the AI Builder interface. This number updates automatically after each AI request.
For Administrators
Administrators can view the master Mumara AI credit balance in Settings --> AI Settings. The balance card at the top of the page shows:
- Total credit balance — Your current available credits
- Credits used today — How many credits have been consumed today across all users
- Credits used this month — Monthly credit consumption across all users
This balance is fetched live from Mumara's servers using your license key and reflects your actual remaining allocation.
What Happens When Credits Run Out
When your credit balance reaches zero:
- AI requests in the builder will display an error message: "Insufficient AI credits. Please contact your administrator."
- You will not be able to send new messages in the AI Builder
- All other Mumara features continue to work normally — broadcasts, scheduling, sending, and all non-AI functionality is unaffected
- Your existing AI conversations and previously generated emails are preserved and accessible
Getting More Credits
- Users: Contact your administrator to request more credits or inquire about credit availability
- Administrators: Purchase additional credits directly from the AI Settings page or through the Mumara Billing Panel
Purchasing Credits
Administrators can purchase AI credits in two ways:
From Within Mumara
- Navigate to Settings --> AI Settings
- Click the Purchase Credits button on the credit balance card
- A purchase modal appears with predefined credit amounts:

From the Billing Panel
You can also purchase and manage AI credits through the Mumara Billing Panel. Log in with your Mumara account to view your credit balance, purchase additional credits, and manage your billing details.
User Credit Markup
Administrators can configure a User Credit Markup percentage in Settings --> AI Settings. This markup increases the credits charged to users above the actual Mumara AI cost.
How it works:
If the markup is set to 50% (the default) and an AI request costs 10 credits at the Mumara level, the user is charged 15 credits (10 + 50% = 15).

This allows administrators to account for overhead or monetize AI features for their users.
The markup percentage is set by your administrator. If you are unsure about the markup applied to your account, contact your administrator for details.
Tips for Managing Credits
Minimize Credit Usage
- Write detailed first prompts — A specific, comprehensive initial message often produces a usable email without multiple follow-up refinements
- Use the right tier — Do not use Mumara AI Advanced for simple tasks. Mumara AI Fast is sufficient for brainstorming and quick drafts
- Start fresh conversations — Long conversations accumulate context, making each subsequent message more expensive. Start a new conversation for each new email project
- Be precise with changes — Instead of asking the AI to redesign the entire email, request specific modifications: "change the header color to blue" is cheaper than "recreate the email with a different style"
Monitor Usage
- Watch the credit counter in the AI Builder after each request to understand how much each type of task costs
- Administrators can monitor credit consumption in Settings --> AI Settings using the daily and monthly usage statistics
For Administrators
Credit Balance Monitoring
The credit balance shown in Settings --> AI Settings is your master balance — it reflects the total credits available for your entire installation across all users. When this reaches zero, AI features stop working for everyone until credits are replenished.
Setting the Markup
The User Credit Markup % field in Settings --> AI Settings controls the markup applied to all user accounts. Adjust this based on your business model:
